I’m loving Google+!

So far, it seems very friendly, easy to use, and has many cool people!

But a lot of people are comparing it to Google Wave, and these comparisons don’t apply because of one thing: Google Wave was supposed to be an email replacement, not a social network. The fact that people used it as a social network is one of the reasons for its failure, Expectations of the user base diverted from the initial project goal: to redesign email from the ground up.

To count Wave as a failure as a social networking platform is to count Word as a failure as a spreadsheet application.

Just sayin’

You are beautiful.

You may not know it, and you may not feel it.
You may feel as if there is something wrong with you; something that stops you from being beautiful.
But you have forgotten something.
You’ve forgotten that to someone, you’re the most beautiful person in the world…
And that won’t change, no matter how pretty you think you need to be.

You are beautiful.

But I am saddened.
It isn’t just that I can’t convince you of it.
Or that you deny it.
It’s that everything you see is geared to make you feel that way.
Every little bit of marketing in the beauty industry is aimed to tell you that you aren’t beautiful… Unless, of course, you buy their product or service.

The marketing machine is geared to sell products that are designed to do one or more of the below:
Make you money
Save you money
Make you look good
Make you feel good

Nothing can promise to make you look or feel good without telling you that you don’t look or feel good enough.

That will not change. No matter how unhealthy the last two are when it comes to the beauty industry, they work. They help companies sell products, and make money.

But you are beautiful already.

Ultimately, What do I know… I’m just a guy, admiring you…

So, I’ve been working on a fair few things today, not least of which has been this image.

Of course, I made it more difficult and time consuming by not saving it, and having PS crash on me, but still, such is life!

Of course, the crash prompted me to change the font, and do a few other things. Initially, it was supposed to be a red A with a burning halo, but I decided against that after this experiment!

Now, I’m going to get back to writing. I have a new script idea to get going on while I take a little break from the current big project…

A new home, a new site, a new theme.
A central place for writing related news, and anything else I want to put out there publicly…
An easy link to give people.
And, of course, geekiness to play with.

Also, because I never truly learn anything until I use it in anger, so to speak

Which, of course, means that things may change every now and then!
